In each edition of the Healthy Ticket, we get the privilege of talking to all of you about the latest ways AGB is making its mark on the world at large. It’s not that we love talking about ourselves (well, maybe a little bit). It’s that each and every product we create, technology we fine-tune or global partnership we solidify brings us that much closer to meeting all of your global benefits needs. So we’re happy to share the good news.
And here’s some more! As part of our commitment to build strong and secure partnerships with health care facilities around the world in order to promote access to quality care, we recently announced the establishment of a new direct settlement network in Africa comprised of more than 31,000 health care professionals. As a result of this arrangement, members on international assignment in Africa will reduce their out-of-pocket expenses at the point of care for eligible inpatient hospitalization and specialized outpatient procedures received at these facilities. The addition of this new direct settlement network is consistent with AGB’s continued pledge to total employee health and wellness.
Our global footprint doesn’t stop there. We continue to leverage the strengths of our parent company to help improve the total health of the diverse international communities we serve. Case in point: In conjunction with the Aetna Foundation, we just awarded a $25,000 grant to MAP International, a nonprofit organization that promotes total health — physical, social, emotional, economic and spiritual — to impoverished people in over 115 countries. The grant directly supports MAP’s Community Health Worker Program, which helps identify, train and support community leaders who in turn support and help to improve the health of individuals, families and communities, particularly in East and West Africa, Latin and Central America, and Southeast Asia.
As you can see, our commitment to our members, customers, brokers and other constituents never stops. So even though we’re well along into the New Year, we’ve still got miles and miles to go before we reach our year-end destination. We look forward to the journey, and we hope you do too!
