Aetna Global Benefits

What makes the world go round? Generosity. Giving a little of yourself so that the person whose life you have touched can give back to another person, a team, a workforce, a community, a country … or the world. From a personal standpoint, I happen to be on the board of my local United Way, as I too feel very strongly about giving back in all aspects of life. And in this edition of the Healthy Ticket, I’d like to start by demonstrating the ways AGB gives back to you: our valued customers, partners and members.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life where our customers live and work, we recently donated 150 computers to the Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The donation will help underprivileged secondary school and university students in the UAE.

You may have also heard of our recent $25,000 grant to MAP International in conjunction with the Aetna Foundation. MAP is a nonprofit organization that promotes total health — physical, social, emotional, economic and spiritual — to impoverished people in over 115 countries.

Even when we’re not taking part in an official philanthropic effort, we always strive to give back to our customers and members. Our 2009 goals are proof of this mission. For instance, we continue to identify opportunities to build on our innovative product solutions to help make international employees’ assignments that much healthier, safe and successful — whether they are working in the UK, Hong Kong or the UAE. To make this happen, we remain focused on our latest global health and wellness initiatives, including Aetna Global Health Connections. And we continue to further leverage the strengths and capabilities of both AGB and Goodhealth Worldwide so customers and members alike receive a smooth and seamless experience with us and our line of products.

We’ll continue to give back in this edition of the Healthy Ticket. First up, you’ll learn how to “give back” to your body with the healing powers of preventive care in our Health Connections feature. You’ll also learn how to pack smarter for safety in our Safety Itinerary feature. You’ll get tips on security, handling emergencies, language translation and much more. Want a trip with a little more international flavor? As always, you can fly high — without leaving your desk — in our Culture Corner series. This time, you can kick back and enjoy the ride to the Cayman Islands.

In good health, Aetna
