The health insurance is handled by private insurers and a government-run company. The three hospitals on the island have modern technologies including MRI and a recompression chamber used for divers and others in need of oxygen therapy. Specialist services are available in the areas of surgery, internal medicine, reconstructive surgery, and anesthesiology. The Cayman Islands are unique in that they do not have any endemic tropical diseases and the islands are non malarial.
